I think pinups are a great idea for a bachelorette gift. Usually from the time you begin to plan your wedding until the wedding day most brides-to-be are working very hard to look beautiful on their special day. They are exercising, getting facials, dieting you name it. It’s a perfect time for a pin-up session!

After Judy arrived to my studio fully equipped and prepared, we decided what we were going to shoot. Then she completely left matters in my hands. I was very impressed with her professionalism. The poses were picture perfect and the outfits had all the details necessary. We really didn’t need any backgrounds because she really brought to life the outfits and poses. She came out amazing! I can’t wait to work with her again.

We worked wonderfully as a team and it has paid off. Several print and online Pin up magazines are going to feature our work. As soon as those come out I’ll show the to you.

This had to be one of the most fun pin-up photo session in my career. Mike and Diane decided that they want to spend their anniversary with me doing a pin-up photo session. They had tried to find something fun and different to do for their 20th’s wedding anniversary. 20th! Yikes! Don’t they look amazing?

I was so flattered that not only did they want to do a pin-up photo session, but they actually wanted to shoot it as their celebration date. Of course, I had to serve a little champagne for the occasion. As you can tell from the main photo they were an amazing fun couple that made my night and my work so easy and a pleasure.

Most people think I have an easy job, but it does take work and energy to always be “on” and make sure that everyone is feeling great and comfortable, you try it one day! This night was the universe giving back! They were the ones that were “on” and taking care of me. I laughed so hard through out the night. Oh, did I mention that before their Pin-up photo session, they brought me a home-made Italian dinner? They did, and it was quite tasty!

It also turned out to be a cool pin-up photo session because I had a special prop that a client had brought for me to photograph. You’ll notice the medical apparatus that Diane is sitting on. It is a 1967 anesthesia machine!!! When Mike and Diane arrived and I found out that she is a biologist, I just had to pull out the medical coat and photograph her on top of the anesthesia machine! For an extra touch I added the writing pad and the 50′s glasses and the look was finalized.

Erica was looking for the perfect gift for her boyfriend and guess what? You got it, what better than a pin-up calendar? She had never thought about doing a pin-up calendar of herself. She was very nervous at first and didn’t know if she could pull it off. She was very shy at the beginning of the  shoot but half way through it she started to really open up and have a great time. For a pin-up calendar you really have to let loose and have tons of fun in order to get enough variety for all 13 photos for the calendar.

We came up with six outfits that would work with the four seasons. A couple of accessory changes helped make the final touches for each look. Erica also purchased extra hair-do’s in order to add more variety. She also decided to have a couple of digital background added to several photographs.

The pin-up calendar that I create is printed on gorgeous 12×18 pearl paper and is spiraled on the top. With this layout the photos are quite nice an big. The colors are amazing and the texture of the paper adds a vintage touch to the entire retro pin-up calendar look.

All I have to say is that her boyfriend is a lucky man!  She really put a lot of thought and love into the pin-up calendar making if a wonderful unique and personal gift.

The last time I photographed Shayna was right before her wedding. She wanted to take some special photos for her fiancé. I thought that shooting Shayna as a Pin-up Model was a great idea and a wonderful gift for her husband-to-be. Shayna has the perfect all-American look of the 40′s and 50′s. She reminds of Betty Grable and Doris Day, the good girls. But good girls can also be sexy. So we set out to do just that. The only difficulty that I saw was the length of her beautiful red mane. We played around with several styles until we found the perfect one!

We started out with a sexy sailor pin-up look then I noticed that her hair was way too glamorous and so we moved into a more elegant direction. I thought that she personified the elegance and allure of the 40′s.

A couple of months later we decided on a date for the shoot. Now Tracy posed a small problem her hair was very short. Too short to do anything remotely Pin up like. So I pulled out my suit case full of wigs and found the right one for her complete pin up makeover. The blond wig worked out beautifully. who would have thought that this brunette beauty would look good blonde.

Once she saw herself after the complete pin up makeover she was overwhelmed because she said the she look just like her mother! Well, her mother must of been quite a looker!

Another reason that Tracey wanted to do the pin up makeover was that she also wanted to record how good her figure still was at her age. (not telling her age, but she looks good) She still has the legs of a dancer. All those years of dancing paid off.

Complete Pin Up Make-Over

I wanted to shoot an Asian girl without necessarily highlighting the fact that she is Chinese. I have seen a lot of those kind’s of pin up girls, where they look like a geisha or they are wearing a kimono. I just shot Jenn as herself, a beautiful woman. I specially like a couple of her photos that look like they are a moment in time and not posing. I’m usually known for my vibrant colors but with Jenn I’m glad we were able to capture great black & whites too.
